IRVING, Texas -- For a week at least, Bruce Carter is tied for the Dallas Cowboys’ lead in sacks.
Carter, the weakside linebacker, recorded the first sack of his career in Sunday’s 36-31 win against the New York Giants, bringing down Eli Manning for a 5-yard loss on New York’s first possession of the third quarter.
And Carter must not have seen Manning’s ability to rip away from several New England defenders in Super Bowl XLII to complete a pass to David Tyree on the Giants’ game-winning drive.
“He was a lot stronger than I thought,” said the 246-pound Carter of the 218-pound Manning. “I actually couldn’t almost get him down, but it’s a great feeling.”
