Romo: Jobs are easier if Cowboys can run

Like Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett, quarterback Tony Romo believes the offense needs to be more balanced.

“It just makes everyone’s job easier if you can run the ball effectively,” Romo said.

Believing in it and doing it are two different things, but Romo believes better days will come for the NFL’s 26th-ranked running offense through two games. DeMarco Murray has 111 yards on 32 carries to lead the Cowboys.

“It’s about production,” Romo said. “So we’re trying to figure out different ways and I think we’ll do some things in the future to continue to get better and better at it.”

Starting Sunday against the St. Louis Rams would be nice, although they are allowing 330.5 yards per game through the air

The last time the Cowboys played against St. Louis, Murray ran for a franchise-record 253 yards.

“He played great,” Romo said. “Hopefully he can do it again.”
