DENVER -- David Ausberry was the clubhouse favorite to win the Raiders’ starting tight end job coming into training camp. Instead, his season ended before it had a chance to start as Oakland placed the third-year, seventh-round draft pick on injured reserve Monday with his right shoulder injury. In a corresponding move, the Raiders signed Lamar Mady off the practice squad to the active roster. The 6-feet-2, 315-pound Mady is an undrafted rookie free agent out of Youngstown State
Ausberry, who was also a special teams ace while playing in all 16 games a year ago, was hurt in the Raiders’ second exhibition game this season, at New Orleans. He was inactive the first two regular-season games.
