QB Watch: Seahawks' Russell Wilson

A weekly examination of the Seahawks' quarterback play.

Wilson
Rewind: Despite not having much of a running game against the Carolina PanthersRussell Wilson threw for 320 yards and completed 25 of 33 passes, including a 43-yard touchdown to Jermaine Kearse in the fourth quarter that proved to be the difference in a 12-7 game. After starting the game 1-for-5, Wilson completed 24 of his last 28 throws. He also was 4-for-4 for 53 yards on the final drive that ran out the clock at the end of the game.

Fast-forward: This is a matchup between two of the most dynamic young quarterbacks in the game with Wilson and Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers. Wilson threw four TD passes against the 49ers the last time he faced them (Dec. 15 last season in Seattle), and the Seahawks won 42-13.

Eyebrow in danger: If they meant it in a recent commercial, one of these two quarterbacks is going to lose an eyebrow when this game is over. In the EA Sports "Madden NFL 25" commercial, the two QBs agree to make a bet. The loser in the next game between the two teams has to shave off an eyebrow. They shake on it and Kaepernick says, “All right, I hope you don’t like your eyebrow.”

Prediction: Kaepernick will be the one-brow man when this is over. He may end up with more passing and running yards than Wilson at the end of the game, but the Seahawks should win this home opener in front of a frenzied 12th Man crowd Sunday night.
